Welcome to My Home

In 2000, I retired from the Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company and the Sprint Corporation in Kansas City after 32 years of FORTRAN programming.

I loved my retirement to my home town in Iowa, but I missed the discipline and creativity of computer programming. So in 2012, I decided to go back to school to learn web development for my own personal enjoyment and satisfaction ... and to help people and non-profit organizations that I was partial to ... all pro bono.

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) in Ankeny caught my eye with their wide variety of web development classes. Although I lived 75 miles away, I started a class in the Fall of 2012 called Introduction to HTML and CSS. As my final project, I built the Vintage Properties web site for my friend, Pat Curtis.

During the Spring 2013 semester I enrolled in the Introduction to Javascript class. Combining the new HTML, CSS, and Javascript knowledge, I created a new web site for our Audubon Chamber of Commerce during my summer vacation.

After my fall 2013 classes in Advanced Javascript and Introduction to PHP and MySQL are completed, I will update the Chamber's Directory and Calendar on their web site.

Since I'm just a beginner and not a professional web developer ... yet, I would appreciate any comments you might have for me to improve my web sites and skills.

Thank you for visiting with me here. I look forward to hearing from you.
